The emperor has no clothes and Warringah has no crown. It's a harsh reality that a government doesn't have the right to govern, but that's the reality of the NSW constitution.

Warringah Council functions under the Local Government Act, so when Dick Persson decides that ‘Dogs and beaches don’t mix’, he shows blatant disregard to the obligations and overarching purpose of council.

Council is required by law to provide adequate and equitable services. More ratepayers have dogs than children; in fact it’s about 40% with dogs. Therefore, the place to start with beach access is 40% of beaches – this makes sense BY LAW.

Several candidates have declared the beaches the most valuable asset in Warringah – that adds weight to our argument that Warringah has been greatly remiss in provided equitable access to this asset.

Barking Mad will work with the new council – but not for ‘one’ dog beach, not for one area that we have to drive to, but for a fair-share of public space.

Please tell me where you Paul, personally, stand on this matter and what promise you are willing to make to the numerous members of Barking Mad in Warringah?
Thank you,
Eedra Zey

Barking Mad

I think its more than a bit twisted that you lot equate dogs with children in an argument about access to beaches. Densely populated beaches like those in Australias biiggest city are no place for loose dogs no more than the middle of the Belrose dog park are a place for a toddlers birthday party.

Paul. I see there is a demand for promises from barking mad I'll take any promises you may make as a sign that you are well susecptable to coersion to whatever loud yapping minority is yapping at the time..

What a ridiculous claim from eedra at Barking Mad. As if 40% of rate payers own dogs! Where is the data to back this nonsense up? What is the sample? 10 houses in eedra's street?

I have visited the Barking Mad site and found a number of similarly ridiculous claims by this group along with various attempts by eedra to put her speculations above the findings of science in order to bolster her opinions.

I'll be supporting candidates who put the whole community and environment over the rantings and bullying tactics tried on here by people like eedra and her group.

Data - we LOVE data.

Yes, statisticians can twist data to their will and agenda, but the fact is that more ratepayers have dogs in their home then children.

Source oh, well, just ABS. I guess you can dispute the ABS, but that would make you look silly.

Unreferenced claims disputing Barking Mad gives you more time to rise to a profile in which you will (personally) fall from, perhaps landing in uncollected dog poo.

(Wish you would swim out to sea and land in our human poo full of heavy metals and pharmaceuticals).

The single largest demographic of dog owners is families with children. Whoops, ABS again. Go after Howard for getting the numbers from ABS. There are (about) 1500 tax payer funded ‘playgrounds’ in Warringah – for children, not dogs and not families with children and dogs.

If the relevance of this comment escaped you may I suggest you reread the first sentence of this paragraph.

It’s not about dogs vs. children, cars vs. pedestrians or any other (patriarchal constructed) dualism. It’s about pluralism – which is mostly written into the Australian constitution, being made clearer by the amendment of 1967.

Dogs have a place in our community today, and they are also part of our European and Aboriginal heritage.

Like your sausage on the BBQ? (support your SLA). Appreciate a roast dinner? If you eat beef or lamb (sheep?), doggie would have contributed to your culinary pleasure.

The proprietor of Barking Mad was a primary producer (grazing, cattle) in the Snowy Mountains. Though her station mustered with horses, not using bikes or dogs, contracted pig hunters and their dogs were a necessity to ensure your T-bone was to be grazing as a happy little steer before its bits landed on top of your $1500 BBQ on a Sunday afternoon with your too-ees and chardonnay.

That’s because Mr.Cooks pigs have become feral and we like our beef/lamb to be fed on pasture. Feral pigs can destroy 6 months to a year’s feed in a short time. Oops, we might be getting too complicated for the brains of “rikibird” etc.

Barking Mad will always work with facts and data, and make sure those findings are relative to the variety of issues we face. (pluralism again – too complicated?)

PS: Don’t go to hospital as you are 1000x more likely to DIE from an infection contracted there then from sharing a table with your neighbour and their doggie.
